Facilitates AIS to Complete Fastest-UMTS Tests

泰国

On February 6, 2105, a leading Thailand mobile operator AIS, together with Huawei and Qualcomm, concluded 3C-HSDPA and DC-HSDPA tests on its 3G networks in Bangkok, Thailand. The tests demonstrated that the peak rate is capable of reaching 63Mbps in downlink and 11Mbps in uplink. These conclusive results allow AIS to become the first mobile operator to run tests of such technologies.

3C-HSDPA is indicative of three-carrier High Speed Downlink Packet Access and DC-HSDPA of dual-carrier High Speed Uplink Packet Access. Conducted in Bangkok's Ari commercial district, according to reports, the tests were conducted on Huawei's latest RAN solutions and Qualcomm's Snapdragon™ chip-based smart devices. The tests showed that 3C-HSDPA increases downlink data rate by 50% over DC-HSDPA.

AIS is committed to offering high-quality user experience. Given suspended LTE spectrum licensing, the increase mobile broadband demands and support for full 3G spectral resources has become a paramount concern for AIS. With carrier aggregation solutions like 3C-HSDPA and DC-HSUPA, multiple carriers can be used simultaneously for single-user data services. This helps improve interoperability among radio carriers and leverage existing radio resources.

Together with leading telecom operators like China Unicom, Turkcell, and AIS, Huawei has concluded commercial 3C-HSDPA and DC-HSUPA tests. By closely cooperating with the industry chain partners, Huawei hopes to jointly promote multi-carrier UMTS (3G) development to provide better mobile broadband services to 1.7 billion UMTS subscribers from all over the world.
