On July 22, 2015, in Shenzhen, China, Huawei helped the global leading carrier Vodafone commercially deploy the world's first cloud-based VoLTE network in its subnet in Italy, along with the cloud-based IMS core network, cloud-based Element Management System (EMS), and industry-leading automatic O&M platform called Management and Orchestration-Virtualized Network Function Management (MANO-VNFM).

For this project, Huawei deployed the cloud-based IMS core network and implemented end-to-end integration of multi-vendor commercial deployment. As a key system integration vendor, Huawei has provided not only traditional vertical integration services, but also end-to-end vertical integration services.

Huawei has been dedicated to providing mature solutions for commercial uses and has established its leading position in the field of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). As part of the SoftCOM strategy, the Huawei CloudIMS helps carriers cope with technical and business challenges in cloud-oriented transformation. While CloudIMS cannot only be seamlessly compatible with mainstream cloud operating systems and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware, it can also easily integrate with services on the live network.

The Huawei CloudIMS has resolved many key problems in cloud-oriented transformation, such as the vertical integration of multi-vendors, assurance of the Service Level Agreement (SLA) real-time telecommunication service in the cloud, end-to-end fault location and detection, and integrated management of the NFV application lifecycle.

These key innovations attribute their success to the long-term cooperation between Huawei and mainstream carriers, and continuous investments from Huawei. In the future, Huawei will continue to innovate media plane acceleration, automatic operation, opening up of NFV capability, and intelligent network fragmentation to accelerate cloud-based network transformation.
