OSN 8800 - Huawei

OSN 8800 Series

The OptiX OSN 8800 is mainly deployed on national backbone networks, regional/provincial backbone networks, and metro networks. In addition to large-capacity OTN grooming features, the OptiX OSN 8800 integrates the following:

  • ROADM
  • Terabit-bit electrical cross-connection
  • Full-granularity grooming ranging from 100 Mbit/s to 100 Gbit/s
  • Optical-electrical ASON synergy
  • 40G/100G transmission capability
  • Various management and protection functions

Empowered by these features, the OptiX OSN 8800 provides carriers with end-to-end OTN/WDM backbone transport solutions to accommodate large-capacity grooming and ultra broadband transmission.

OptiX OSN 8800 T64/T32/T16 products can form a complete end-to-end OTN network, can be used with the OptiX BWS 1600G, OptiX OSN 1800, or OptiX OSN 9800 to construct a WDM network, and can also be used with NG-SDH, PTN, or data communication devices to achieve a complete transport solution.

  • The OptiX OSN 8800 is recognized as the platform with the highest integration in the industry. One OptiX OSN 8800 subrack supports access of 320/640 x 10G or 32/64 x 100G services. The OptiX OSN 8800 can accommodate mass IP services and provide centralized grooming and unified management. Because one OptiX OSN 8800 subrack is equivalent to multiple subracks of other WDM devices, the OptiX OSN 8800 saves 80% of the equipment footprint and reduces power consumption per bandwidth unit by 55%. OptiX OSN 8800 devices can be directly connected, rather than being connected through ODFs, and therefore are highly reliable.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 enables congestion-free 3.2T/6.4T-bit electrical cross-connections, supports complex network topologies, and provides centralized grooming of numerous services. It provides optical and electrical cross-connections and supports optical cross-connections in 2, 4, 9, or 20 degrees using ROADMs. In this way, it supports flexible wavelength-level and subwavelength-level grooming and quick service deployment and reduces CAPEX. In addition, the OptiX OSN 8800 creates the industry's first simply-structured colorless, directionless, contentionless, and gridless (CDCG) ROADM and simplifies node configurations for optical-layer ASON.
  • The mature commercial 96 x 100G system supports transmission with unlimited bandwidth. The system provides both OCh-layer ASON and ODUk-layer ASON, a new optical-electrical ASON synergy mode pioneered in the industry by Huawei, featuring high reliability.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 has MS-OTN features cross-connections of OTN/SDH/packet services on centralized cross-connect boards and the flexible transmission of OTN, SDH, and packet services to improve board utilization.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 supports submarine cable transmission. Huawei's industry-leading 100G submarine cable solution supports 12,000 km transmission without electrical regeneration.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 supports transmission of 2M, IEEE 1588v2, and synchronous Ethernet clocks to fully satisfy the clock precision requirements of 3G, 4G, and wireless networks.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 monitors the OSNR, optical power, and BER of any channel on 10G/40G/100G networks and supports real-time online monitoring of optical parameters, to improve network O&M efficiency.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 supports the online OTDR function by an OSC board, which measures fiber parameters and rapidly locates fault points and deterioration points on a fiber.
  • The OptiX OSN 8800 supports smooth evolution to TSDN, which improves service provisioning efficiency, simplifies network O&M, and makes networks more intelligent. Based on TSDN architecture, the OptiX OSN 8800 supports various apps and innovative services and implements intelligent network management and the unified grooming of cross-layer and cross-domain network resources.
