G.fast commercial deployment has mounted to carriers' agendas since G.fast standards were released in December 2014. Copper line networks are important infrastructure for fixed operators. G.fast brings copper access into the gigabit era. It addresses the difficulties of fiber to the home (FTTH) construction and significantly accelerates commercial deployment of ultra-broadband networks. G.fast will doubtlessly build the confidence of carriers to invest in copper based solutions for ultra-broadband network roll out.
The prosperity of bandwidth-hungry services (such as IPTV and 4K TV services) poses ever-increasing requirements on network bandwidth. G.fast makes 1 Gbit/s ultra-high-speed access over copper a reality, which breathes life into the entire telecommunication industry. Carriers are longing to have available G.fast products and E2E solutions.
Huawei has made heavy investment into the G.fast field, and the investment has yielded many achievements. Huawei launched the industry's first G.fast technology prototype in November 2011 and G.fast pre-standard product in August 2013. Two months later, Huawei and BT successfully launched the industry's first G.fast live customer trial. In August 2014, Huawei signed the industry's first G.fast commercial contract with Swisscom. Huawei is devoting itself to developing new G.fast products and solutions to serve the requirements of carriers all around the world.
Extensive Practical ExperienceHuawei launched the G.fast product prototype long before G.fast standards were released and established G.fast trial sites together with multiple partners. Huawei has accumulated extensive first-hand experience in G.fast applications. Due to the high working frequency, G.fast is very sensitive to line quality, crosstalk, and noise. Huawei's optimized algorithm and software ensures G.fast activation reliability over long-distance copper lines with strong crosstalk. Huawei also derives abundant experience from G.fast lab tests and trials. Huawei's extensive experience in G.fast applications will greatly speed up commercialization of G.fast products.
Solution SeriesHuawei is developing outdoor small- and medium-capacity, indoor small-capacity G.fast products, and related G.fast CPEs. The outdoor small-capacity model is waterproof and supports remote power feed, and the indoor small-capacity model supports reverse power supply. With this comprehensive product family, Huawei can provide customers with tailored solutions that meet different specification and application needs.
Flexible Power SupplyHuawei G.fast products are available in different power supply modes, including local power supply, remote power supply from the central equipment room over telephone lines, and reverse power supply from the end user over subscriber lines. The diversity of power supply modes renders G.fast products flexible in their application to varying power supply scenarios. Huawei also provides matching power supply devices and remote management services for G.fast products, enabling E2E G.fast solution delivery.
Huawei has played a pivotal role in the development of G.fast standards. The proposals contributed by Huawei to ITU-T cover a wide range, including time division duplex (TDD), TDD basic frame structure, point-to-point architecture, forward error correction (FEC) transmission, power-saving working mode, and online reconfiguration. After the release of the G.fast standards in December 2014, this year will witness an explosion of G.fast product deliveries. Huawei has signed the industry's first G.fast commercial contract with Swisscom and started product delivery. Huawei is committed to speeding up commercialization of G.fast products based on the experience accumulated through previous G.fast lab tests and trials. They will continue to play an active role in achieving cooperation across the industry chain, setting development trends (broader, faster, and smarter) for ultra-high bandwidth networks, as well as providing an immersive and fully-connected communications experience for end users.
