In 2017, Huawei became a Platinum Member of the OpenStack Foundation and upgraded from a Gold Director to a Platinum Director. Huawei's influence with the OpenStack community continues to grow.

Cloud-Powered Digital Services

Promoting the cloud to be the unified platform and portal for B2B services and providing IoT, video, and enterprise communication services through the cloud are a strategic breakthrough point for carriers to explore high-value services.

5.Innovative Applications of the NB-IoT Solution in Multiple Industries

Huawei is the first in the industry to provide the commercial NB-IoT chip and has accumulated commercial experience in multiple industries, such as smart water, shared bikes, and smart parking. We also cooperate with more than 400 partners to accelerate industry development. In June 2017, Huawei won the Best IoT Innovation for Mobile Networks award from the GSMA.

  • Smart water: Huawei implemented the commercial use of the World's First Commercial NB-IoT-based Smart Water project, improving the metering success rate to 99.5% and enabling water leakage position locating and leakage loss control through big data analysis.
  • Shared bike: Huawei has innovatively applied the NB-IoT in shared bikes. The low power consumption supports continuous power supply of the battery in two to three years, reducing the vehicle cost. A maximum of 100,000 users can be connected at the same time, improving the unlocking success rate during peak hours.
  • Smart parking: With deep penetration and wide coverage, the NB-IoT shortened the deployment period of smart parking by 70%, reduced the construction cost by 30%, and has been applied in Spain, China, and Canada.

6. Rich Application of Industry Videos

Carriers cooperate with industry partners to provide video services to industry customers through services in an innovative manner, improving the ARPU and customer loyalty of industry customers and increasing carriers' revenues. Huawei's stereoscopic video ecosystem integrates 30+ STBs, 350+ cameras, and smart devices from 30+ vendors, and 300+ services with off-the-shelf availability through cooperation with 1000+ service partners.

  • 4K bars: In Spain, Huawei has obtained the relay-broadcasting right of popular events and provided 4K football packages to engage users and cultivate their 4K video consumption habits, promote the development of family 4K video services, and increase carriers' revenues.
  • Communication video: Huawei has launched HD video calls, multi-party conferences, medical consultation, and online education services in Sichuan and Guangdong.
  • Surveillance video: Huawei provides forest fire prevention, environment monitoring, construction site monitoring, and sunshine kitchen in Henan and Zhejiang.
