MA5833

Huawei SmartAX MA5833 distributed converged cable access platform (D-CCAP) coaxial media converter (CMC) device is a full-service, highly intelligent digital cable network device designed for fiber deep migration. Installed at the edge of an HFC network, the MA5833 delivers a Gigabit bandwidth to a group of users at a lower cost than traditional HFC with centralized CMTS and FTTH. With the built-in EQAM or pluggable optical receiver, the MA5833 is fully backward compatible to existing QAM-based services. MA5833 supports DOCSIS 3.1. It can be installed in a network box, mounted on a wall, or hung on a cable. With Huawei OLT located at the head end aggregates up to several hundreds of distributed MA5833s. This solution provides space, power, and cooling efficiencies required for a large-scale transition toward fiber deep architectures. Positioning to support the SDN framework, the D-CCAP further evolves HFC.

    • High bandwidth and multiple services: Supports smooth evolution from GPON to 10G PON; provides CATV, HSI, and VoD services for home users; supports L2VPN, enterprise access, and Wi-Fi hotspot coverage; and fully supports PacketCable.
    • Compatible with the HFC live network: Compatible with the CM and OSS systems on the live network. The built-in power multiplier reduces the insertion loss of devices and eliminates the need for changing the HFC coaxial distribution network.
    • Aggregation management: The aggregation management function shields the PON ports between the OLT and the CMC. The CMC does not need to be managed as an independent NE, which reduces the OPEX for network maintenance.
    • High integration optical station: The MA5833 integrates the ONU, CMTS processing module, power multiplier, mixer, and receiver, which greatly simplifies engineering installation and facilitates maintenance.
    • Co-platform network construction with FTTx: The Distributed Converged Cable Access Platform (D-CCAP) can be deployed using the same platform, architecture, and network management system (NMS) as the FTTx solution, meeting the requirements of multiple access modes and supporting smooth migration to FTTH.
